As the end of March approaches, so too does the deadline for making comments on two key consultations which will have an impact on this stretch of the River Thames between Hampton and Kew. The Thames Estuary 2100 consultation and the consultation on Royal Botanic Gardens Kew’s Vision for the next 3 years both have a deadline of 31st March for comments.
Thames Estuary 2100 (TE2100) is an Environment Agency project to develop a tidal flood risk management plan for the Thames estuary through to the end of the century. The final plan will recommend what flood risk management measures will be required in the estuary, where they will be needed, and when over the coming century, based upon the climate changes and sea level rises we face.

The current consultation is on High Level Options (HLOs) and the agency is seeking your views on:
1. The future of flood risk management in the Thames Estuary.
2. What needs to be done about this in our area.
You will need to register online to have your say on this consultation. Once logged in you can have your say on proposals that will impact on a range of areas along our stretch of the Thames.
The consultation on Royal Botanic Gardens Kew’s Vision for the the next 3 years seeks local, national and international comment on Kew’s vision for the coming three years. Issues of particular relevance to the River Thames and the Thames Landscape Strategy include restoring the area formerly known as Queen Elizabeth’s Lawn, and looking at ways of using the flood defences and boundaries within the gardens to better plan for climate change while strengthening Kew’s waterside links.
