On Saturday 31st March 2007 an all day fun event will be held at Eagle Brewery Wharf, Kingston to celebrate its potential and to launch an exciting new initiative to enhance the historic riverside site. Activities will include a live eagle demonstration, face painting, live music, free boat trips and more.
The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in partnership with the London Development Agency, Transport for London, Thames Landscape strategy and the Mayor of London’s 100 Public Spaces programme will host the event that will temporarily transform Eagle Brewery Wharf for one day with activities for all the family to enjoy.
Located on the site of the former Eagle brewery, the scheme has been developed in partnership with local organisations including the Kingstonfurst, Kingston Tour Guides, Friends of Kingston Museum and Heritage Service and the Kingston upon Thames Society.
The project has been made possible by a grant from Transport for London to provide a more attractive and welcoming public area, and could include improved safety, enhanced lighting, the opening up of opening up of the central area for low-key public events, new seating, landscaping & planting, signage and improvements to the connections between the river and High Street via Eagle Wharf.
Work is not expected to start until the end of 2007 and in the meantime members of the public, local businesses and riverside users are being asked for their opinions on how the site could be enhanced through a period of public consultation timed to take place throughout the spring.
