Thames Landscape Strategy - Hampton to Kew -

Events

Great River Race

This year for the first time the race will be held in reverse. Due to the tides, the 2009 Race will start at London Docklands and finish at Ham House. A fantastic day out for the whole family, the race is seen as London’s River Marathon. A spectacular event attracting around 300 crews from all over the globe and appealing to every level of competitor from those who enjoy fun, fancy dress and charity stunts, to serious sports men and women who like to win.

With the race finishing in Ham this year – it has provided an exciting opportunity for this part of the world to showcase its celebrated waterside history and there will be lots of events and entertainment on offer including bars, an after party and live music. The Thames Landscape Strategy will also be holding a closing ceremony for the London’s Arcadia project culminating in a floodlit river pageant.
