Welcome!

Welcome!

The Thames Landscape Strategy has secured a grant of £350,000 from the Heritage Fund Green Challenge Recovery Fund (matched by other sources to £500k) to carry out the first phase of the groundbreaking Rewilding Arcadia project to find nature based solutions to make our floodplains more resilient to increasing flood risk Guardians of the Arcadian Thames for over 25 years!   The Thames Landscape Strategy (TLS) is a not-for-profit partnership for the river corridor between Weybridge, Hampton and Kew launched in 1994.  Our aim is to understand, promote and conserve this special stretch of the river and to enhance its character – both natural and manmade. The strategy is a 100-year blueprint for the Thames, whose vision is set out in the Thames Landscape Strategy report (2012 revision). To achieve our aims, the TLS brings together a partnership of statutory and non-statutory organisations, local groups and individuals to inform strategic policy and to implement a broad range of projects and management proposals.  During the Covid-19 pandemic we have had to reduce our volunteering programme and community fundraising.  We have not stood idle however, we have been busy developing a major new project ‘Rewilding Arcadia’; to restore and open up the lost floodplain of the Arcadian Thames.  If you would like to support the Thames Landscape Strategy, your donation would be very welcome during these difficult times.  Without your financial support, the work of the TLS would cease.  Watch Sir David Attenborough as he urges you to support the work of the Thames Landscape Strategy as he closes the 25th anniversary celebration of the Thames Landscape Strategy.  Simply click on the link below:...

A Message from our Patron

A Message from our Patron

A Message of support from Sir David Attenborough, Patron of the Thames Landscape Strategy “The Thames Landscape Strategy is that very rare animal: an organisation with real popular appeal and an imaginative sense of what it is about landscapes that fires people’s imagination. We need to take active steps now to ensure that we maintain a varied wildlife habitat, support traditional river activities, and manage the landscape to complement the marvellous historic buildings, nature reserves and parks that line this stretch of the Thames. The ideas proposed by the Thames Landscape Strategy are truly ground breaking and really moving forward. We should rejoice in having such an enthusiastic and committed organisation to guide this process and I look forward to continued success throughout the coming years”.
